Adult workshops take place throughout the year. If you are interested in a workshop or have a voucher, please get in touch to talk about available dates!

For adults:

Spray Paint and Scrape Painting

Bookings open 10th December, 6pm.

Using odourless and therefore non-toxic and water-based spray paints, the children will create their own spray-painted pinecone Christmas tree, completed with little mini pom pom baubles.

They will also be shown the technique of scrape painting! Scrape art or scrape painting is a form of abstract painting where you use a tool to scrape paint across a surface, creating bold, vibrant and expressive paintings!They will create a range of paintings which they can take home and use to make Christmas cards, tags, or anything their creativity inspires!  

Poly-Block and Lino Printing

Bookings open 10th December, 6pm.

In this Christmassy poly-block printing workshop, children will be taught the process for making multiple-coloured poly-prints and have the opportunity to prepare and experiment with a range of coloured papers to print their design onto.

 Using pre-cut lino, the children will also be taught the process of creating lino prints to make Christmas cards, gift tags and Christmas Prints in this Christmassy art workshop!

Poly Block Printing is a method of relief printing that involves drawing a design into a sheet of polystyrene. The relief image is then inked and paper placed against its surface before applying pressure by hand to transfer the ink onto the paper.

Lino Cutting and printing

Bookings open 10th December, 6pm.

In this lino printing workshop, children will be taught the process for cutting and printing their own Christmas lino prints and cards! Lino cutting involves using sharp lino cutters, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully and will also use safely blocks to keep their hands away from the blade.

Mushroom Forest

Bookings open 15th October, 6pm.

In this Mushroom Forest Workshop, the young artists will be creating a mixed media enchanted painting using a muted autumnal colour palette.

They will be exploring the use of watercolour paint and acrylic paint to create layers and depth within their painting, whilst exploring colour mixing and composition.

Clay Pumpkin and leaf

Bookings open 15th October, 6pm.

In this sculptural workshop, children will be creating pumpkins through the media of air-drying clay. They will be taught the techniques of sculpting clay to create textured and realistic pumpkin sculptures. If they have enough time towards the end, the children will also be given the opportunity to create sculptures of autumnal leaves or anything creative and imaginative that they desire.

leaf printing

Bookings open 15th October, 6pm.

In this leaf printing workshop, children will be given the opportunity to use a professional printing press to create a range of leaf prints. They will be taught how to creative prints using this style of relief printing and will be given the opportunity to create a range of prints. They will also prepare and experiment with a range of surfaces and coloured paper to print their leaves onto.

The children will be independently using the printing press, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully to ensure they keep their hands away from the roller.

Cyanotype Photography

Cyanotype, also known as sun printing, is one of the oldest photographic printing processes in the history of photography, around 170 years old! It is a printing process where the UV rays from the sun react with the chemicals on the paper to create the recognisable cyan-blue background. Where the paper has been covered with an object or leaves etc it will remain white.

Using paper and fabric that has been pre-painted by myself with the cyanotype chemicals, the children will create their own creative cyanotype prints using leaves and other items found in nature.

Natural Brushes & ink

­­­Using entirely natural material, this workshop focuses on how we can use nature (and anything really!) to create art. The children will use the sticks, leaves and plants found in the garden to create their own paint brushes and then use flowers and petals to make their own ink. They will then use the two of them together to explore mark-making!

Lino-Printing is a method of relief printing that involves cutting a design into a sheet of Lino. The relief image is then inked and paper placed against its surface before being run through a press or applying pressure by hand.

 In this lino printing workshop, the young artist will be taught the process for making a single-colour linocut. Lino cutting involves using sharp lino cutters, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully and will also use safely blocks to keep their hands away from the blade.

Collograph Moroccan Tiles

Collagraph is a method of printmaking that involves sticking materials to a plate (board) to build up a surface which is then rolled with ink and printed onto paper. The raised parts of the board will print onto the paper creating your collagraph print.

 The children will be creating their own collagraph tile, lightly inspired by tiles from Morocco. They will build up their plate (board) and then after rolling the ink, will put it through the printing press to create their collagraph print.

The children will be independently using the printing press, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully to ensure they keep their hands away from the roller.

Tie Dye & Marbling

In the tie-dye part of this workshop the children will be shown how to fold, swirl and scrunch their fabric to make amazing patterns and effects with tie-dye! The children will be shown the colour wheel and be able to choose from a large range of dyes to create their t-shirts!

In the marbling part of the workshop, the children will be shown a paper marbling technique and have the opportunity to experiment and create a range of marbled outcomes. These outcomes will be taken home and can be turned into book marks, birthday cards, collages, and much much more.

Abstract Painting

In this expressive workshop, the young adults will be creating their own abstract painting to take home and proudly display! They will explore the use of tools and paints, build an understanding of composition, express themselves with colour, and investigate the importance of working in layers to create depth in their painting.

They will be working on a 30x30cm stretched canvas which is included in the price!

Tie Dye & Tequila

Margaritas and Tie-Dying, a perfect combination for a summer evening!

In this tie-dye workshop you will be shown how to fold, swirl and scrunch your fabric to make amazing patterns and effects with tie dye! There will be a range of colours to experiment with, so you choose to go full summer festival vibes or more mellow with your colour palette depending on your mood.

You will have the option of creating a t-shirt or cotton tote bag which are included in the price. Please also bring along other items you wish to dye, such as socks, leggings, scrunchies, hankies, napkins, baby grows, t-towels, scarves, cushion covers, hairbands, bunting, more t-shirts or bags, whatever you like!

Funky Fish

Mixed Media Workshop, age 4-10(ish)

3oth May 2023, 9-10:15am & 10:45-12pm. Bookings open Wednesday 17th May, 6pm.

In this (messy) mixed media and collage workshop, the children will create their own collaged imaginative funky fish. They will freely experiment with a range of mixed media, including drawing inks, acrylic paint and watercolours and then turn their playful experiments into collaged fish. This is the perfect workshop for children to freely discover and explore the vast range of materials and media.

The most important aspect of these workshops is the experience, not always the outcome. It’s about learning new techniques, experiencing new media, taking the time to look, feel and be in the present moment and most importantly, express yourself through art.

Mixed Media Drawing

Observational Drawing for Young Artists, age 10+(ish)

3oth May 2023, 1-2:30pm. Bookings open Wednesday 17th May, 6pm.

In this workshop, the young artists will learn to look and observe the finer details. They will use a selection of mixed media drawing techniques to help them study and record the textures and details of animal skulls.

Drawing is an excellent tool for helping children build on their confidence, self-esteem and focus, which is especially beneficial for secondary school children.

Dry-point etching evening

22nd June 2023, 6:30-9pm. Bookings open Wednesday 17th May, 6pm.

Dry Point Etching, also known as intaglio, is a printmaking process in which a design is drawn on a plate with a sharp, pointed needle-like instrument. After making the incisions or indents in a plate, the ink is applied and then wiped off. Ink remains caught in the incisions and creates the image onto printmaking paper when run through a printing press.

In this Dry Point workshop, you will be taught the process for making an Etching using a variety of methods to create line and texture. You will also be taught different ways of inking and cleaning the plate to achieve different effects.


This workshop is suitable for all abilities, whether you are a beginner or someone reacquainting themselves with the art form. All materials and reference images will be supplied, but please feel free to bring your own ideas too!

Folk Art Clay Chickens

Sculptural Workshop, age 5- 10(ish)

3rd April & 13th April 2023. Bookings open Monday 27th March 2023, 6pm

In this sculptural workshop, children will be creating folk art inspired chickens through the media of air-drying clay. They will be taught the techniques of sculpting clay to create textured and patterns to add detail to their decorative chicken sculptures.

Spring Collage

Collage Workshop, age 5- 10(ish)

3rd April & 13th April 2023. Bookings open Monday 27th March 2023, 6pm

In this workshop, children will be creating a spring inspired collage using layers. They will explore composition and the use of drawing and lino printing to create a contrasting and bold springtime collage.

This workshop has taken inspiration from the artists Angie Lewis and Mark Hearld and their use of block printing and nature.

Expressive Drawing Workshop, age 5-10(ish)

13th April 2023. Bookings open Monday 27th March 2023, 6pm

Broken into two parts, drawing and 3D collage, the children will create their own 3D bird with paper and wire in this busy workshop. They will observe and draw real feathers using a range of media and drawing techniques to help them look, explore and express themselves. They will then use their drawn feathers to collage and create a 3D bird with the help of wire. This is the perfect workshop tor children to discover and explore the vast range of materials and media you can use to draw.

The most important aspect of these workshops is the experience of drawing, not always the outcome. It’s about learning new techniques, experiencing drawing, taking the time to look, take in and feel the world around us, and express yourself through drawing.

Nature Inspired Dry-Point Etching Workshop, Age 11+

Boob Vessel

Adults Clay Sculpture Workshop

26th April 2023, 7-9pm. Bookings open Monday 27th March 2023, 6pm

Clay is a very therapeutic art form and this workshop is a perfect way of connecting the body and mind.

In this workshop you will create a clay boob pot using hand building techniques. You may choose to sculpt your own body using photographs, through touch, or simply memory. You will be taught how to create a pinch pot and add detail and texture to make it personal to you.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities and bodies! Whether you are a beginner or someone reacquainting themselves with the art form.

After the workshop, your pot will be fired, glazed in glossy white and fired again. It will be available to pick up in 4-6 weeks after the workshop, possibly sooner.

Lino-Printing is a method of relief printing that involves cutting a design into a sheet of Lino. The relief image is then inked and paper is placed against its surface. Applying pressure by hand or using a roller, the print is transferred onto the paper or card.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities, whether you are a beginner or someone reacquainting themselves with the art form. All materials and reference images will be supplied, but please feel free to bring your own ideas too!

Clay pumpkin sculptures

Clay Pumpkin Sculptures, Around age 4-10

In this sculptural workshop, children will be creating pumpkins through the media of air-drying clay. They will be taught the techniques of sculpting clay to create textured and realistic pumpkin sculptures. If they have enough time towards the end, the children will also be given the opportunity to create sculptures of autumnal leaves or anything creative and imaginative that they desire.

Towards the end of the week, the children will return to the studio to be taught how to paint their sculptures using acrylic paint. They will be taught how to apply and blend the paint to enhance the realistic effect of the pumpkins.  

 The cost also includes a painting session at the end of the week once the clay has been air dried. If you can't make this session, you have the option to paint them at home instead.

Leaf Printing

Relief Printing Workshop, Around age 4-10

In this leaf printing workshop, children will be given the opportunity to use a professional printing press to create a range of leaf prints. They will be taught how to creative prints using this style of relief printing and will be given the opportunity to create a range of prints. They will also prepare and experiment with a range of surfaces and coloured paper to print their leaves onto.

The children will be independently using the printing press, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully to ensure they keep their hands away from the roller.

Poly Block Printing

This workshop is similar to lino printing but without the sharp lino cutters.

Wire Fish Sculptures

Wire Fish Workshop, Age 4-10

Inspired by the sculptor Alexander Calder (1898-1976) and his playful wire sculptures, the children will create their own wire fish by twisting, bending, joining and cutting wire in the shape of their own imaginary fish!

This workshop involves using wire cutters and pliers, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully.

Paper Marbling

Paper Marbling Workshop, Age 4-8

Paper marbling has been around for centuries. Historians seem to agree that paper marbling originated in Japan in at least the 12th century, where it was called Suminagashi or ‘floating ink’.

Paper marbling involves floating inks on a liquid surface in a tray. The inks are manipulated into patterns using tools and then a sheet of paper is placed into the tray, absorbing the floating design.

In this workshop, the children will be shown a paper marbling technique and have the opportunity to experiment and create a range of marbled outcomes.

These outcome will be taken home and can be turned into book marks, birthday cards, collages, and much much more.

Abstract Painting

Mindfulness Abstract Painting, Age 4-6

In this fun and expressive mindfulness workshop, children will have the opportunity to explore and express their emotions. Art is a powerful tool to lower stress levels and promote calmness, and in this session, the children will use mixed media without restrictions as a way of releasing stress and worries.  Some of the activities included will be painting to music and painting responses to pictures.

During the session, the children will develop an understanding of colour, marks, composition and layering, whilst given the freedom to be creative and express themselves.

Lino Printing

Lino-Printing is a method of relief printing that involves cutting a design into a sheet of Lino. The relief image is then inked and paper placed against its surface before being run through a press or applying pressure by hand.

In this lino printing workshop, children will be taught the process for making a single-colour linocut. Lino cutting involves using sharp lino cutters, but with the limited class sizes, the children will be monitored carefully and will also use safely blocks to keep their hands away from the blade.

Primary Drawing

Mindfulness Drawing Workshops, 4 Consecutive Sessions, Age 4-6, 7-10

Drawing comes naturally to children and in these workshops the children will learn a variety of mixed media drawing techniques to help them look, explore, understand, communicate, and express themselves. This is a perfect course for helping children discover drawing.

 In these workshops, the children will complete playful warm up activities and projects that will take them on a journey of exploring a range of subject matters, new ways to make marks and a huge range of drawing materials, including graphite sticks, drawing inks, oil pastels, chalk, charcoal, pen, pencils and even drawing with rubbers!   

The most important aspect of these workshops is the experience of drawing, not always the outcome. It’s about learning new techniques, experiencing drawing, taking the time to look, take in and feel the world around us, and express yourself through drawing.

Every session will have a different theme and medium.

Etching

Dry Point Etching Workshop, Age 11-18

After making the incisions or indents in a plate, the ink is applied and then wipes off. Ink remains caught in the incisions and creates the image onto printmaking paper when run through a printing press.

I would recommend bringing photographs, reference images or drawings to work from, this could relate to their GCSE or A-Level theme if they are taking it, to further enhance and develop their art project. Sample images will also be available.

They will create their own design, which could link to their GCSE or A-Level theme to further enhance and develop their art project.

Individuals do not need to be taking Art GCSE or A-Level to attend this course.

 

Secondary Drawing

Drawing Workshops, 4 Consecutive Sessions, Age 11-18

Drawing comes naturally to children and in the workshops the children will learn a variety of mixed media drawing techniques to help them look, explore, understand, communicate, and express themselves.

In these workshops, the children will explore a range of subject matters and drawing materials, including graphite sticks, drawing inks, soft pastels, charcoal, pen, pencils and even drawing with rubbers!

Drawing is an excellent tool for helping children build on their confidence, self-esteem and focus, which is especially beneficial for secondary school children.

The sessions will be broken down into 4 themes:

University Portfolio Building

1:1 Sessions, Age 16-18

These sessions are on a 1:1 basis (see 1:1 tutoring for more information and booking) and are tailored to suit the individual and the portfolio requirements from the University. The idea of these sessions is to extend the content of the portfolio and present the portfolio in the requested format (digital/physical) to further enhance and showcase the individual’s passion and artistic ability. Please note, I can only support the portfolio development, not the interview itself.

Scholarship Portfolio Building
